Schools: From Service to Profit Centers

Schools: From Service to Profit centers

Recently I received many inquiries for consulting on "How to get new students for my school"

Based on the meetings I had sharing some of the observations and concerns connected to Schools

Before these meetings for me schools were a holly place where service of ensuring great citizens for nation is ensured but these recent day meetings shocked me.

Why?

  • The language of school trustees/owners is changed to language of entrepreneurs rather than serving the nation
  • They are speaking language of more enrollments/Admissions and profits rather then education quality
  • They are developing their marketing plans and calculating ROI's
  • Admission time has became season for them
  • They have set budget of marketing and branding for achieving desired goals
  • From my 8 meetings only 1 schools shared how they are ensuring up-gradation of teaching skills of their teachers or working on providing education friendly environment
Some where the reason is we as parents:
  • During the communication i realized how as parent we are more focused towards:
  • Amenities : Which is making our child more comfortable rather then competent
  • Central Ac's : How the hell it helps in ensuring better education
  • Activities: More of Fun activities which school is doing for entertainment (We are not asking on how these will further add value in learning enhancement)
  • Extra curricular activities: Which in a way became marketing tool and more fees assurance media as we again don't ask how it will be converted in life skills (Some basic activities 100% add value like : Swimming)
  • when our child don't perform we blame our own child and not learning process set by management of school
  • we focused on how much top performers/students have scored rather then checking how much % from class have not scored well
How it is impacting us:
  • Fees hikes are taken (Including great donations for admission) for More of Amenities and Education
  • Core Values which as child they must learn is not getting ensured through education as they have clear plans for getting enrollments and keeping students for longer duration
  • Students are entertained more so that they speak wonderful things about their schools (Our child has become their marketing tool)
  • Student need extra classes /Coaching though we have ensured admission in well recognized school (Why???)
Dear Parents it is my humble request to scan education quality and value transformation system in school and not showoff things which is increasing comfort level of our child. Don't fall in trap of this Marketing tricks as they are focused on profits rather then education.

Three Tips for Motivating Your Customer Service Team

Three Tips for Motivating Your Customer Service Team Scripting exactly what customer service employees should do in every situation drains the initiative out of even the most highly motivated workers ! But when you set up a system that enables you to trust your employees to exercise their own judgment and learn from their experience, they may well deliver a far better customer experience. (1) Establish guardrails !  People handling calls should understand where they have latitude and where they don’t. Within those guardrails, your team should be free to exercise judgment. (2) Seek feedback.  Ask customers for feedback after each transaction. Circulate the comments to team leaders so they can see where they’re succeeding, where they still have work to do, and what, specifically, your customers point out. (3)Coaching and support.  Free your supervisors and experienced customer care professionals from some tasks so they can devote time to coach

Create a Work Environment That Encourages Employee Engagement

Create a Work Environment  That Encourages Employee Engagement Your Managers Are Key When You Want Engaged Employees BY  SUSAN M. HEATHFIELD Does your workplace encourage employee engagement? Probably not. But, it should. It's a powerful factor in your business success. Engaged employees are more productive, customer-focused, and profit-generating and employers are more likely to retain them. According to the Gallup organization, employee engagement is a necessary strategy for companies that want to succeed in the marketplace.  Employee engagement is not a Human Resources initiative that managers are reminded to do once a year. It's a key strategic initiative that drives employee performance, accomplishment, and continuous improvement all year long. It's the outcome from how your organization interacts with people to drive business results. Just as organizations cannot create employee empowerment, employee motivation, or employee satisfactio
